The Counter-weighted System is a portable solution designed for counterbalancing by concrete or other means, allowing for close positioning to the work surface without obstructing the equipment being accessed. These systems are ANSI and OSHA compliant.

Counter-weighted rail systems provide an effective and economical means of overhead safety anchorage. FLS offers systems with and without the concrete counterweight on the base of unit. The system is ideal in areas with no overhead obstructions and door height restrictions.

OSHA Regulations For Counter Weighted Rail Systems

Freestanding Horizontal Rail Systems are OSHA / ANSI compliant and meet ANSI 14.3 requirement for fixed ladders, OSHA 1910.26 for portable metal ladders, CSAZ11-M81 for portable ladders, OSHA 1910.23 for guarding floor/wall openings & holes, and the Manitoba Workplace Safety & Health Division Fall Protection Guidelines.

It is recommended that all protection products be inspected prior to each use by the user, and annually by an OSHA and or ANSI defined “Competent Person” other than the user and in line with OSHA 1910.140, 1926.502, and ANSI/ASSP Z359.2-2017.

  • OSHA 1910.140(c)(18) Personal fall protection systems must be inspected before initial use during each work shift for mildew, wear, damage, and other deterioration, and defective components must be removed from service.
  • OSHA 1926.502(d)(21) Personal fall arrest systems shall be inspected prior to each use for wear, damage and other deterioration, and defective components shall be removed from service.
  • ANSI/ASSP Z359.2-2017 Equipment training shall include instruction and performance assessments of personal fall protection equipment to include before-use inspection, assembly, use, disassembly and storage according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
