FLS Fall Protection for Roofs

Takata Corporation, based in Tokyo, Japan, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of motor vehicle seat belts, airbags, steering wheels, interior trims, and child restraint systems. The main production building at the facility had several unprotected edges on the roof where no parapet walls were present, as well as an exposed edge near the roof hatch, which serves as the only roof access point.

The new storage/warehouse building at Takata is a recently constructed metal frame building with a standing-seam metal roof. Personnel accessing the roof for equipment maintenance in the future would obviously require fall protection here as well.

Project Details

FLS installed approximately 900 total feet of FlexGuard Permanent Guardrail on various areas of the main building roof. Most notably, the area around the rooftop access hatch was able to be protected by FlexGuard Permanent, due to the versatility and adjustability of the product.

FLS also designed and installed a total of three Multi-Span Lifeline Cable Systems on the roof of the new warehouse building. Two systems at 380 feet each provide coverage for access of the entire length of the upper roof, while one system at 200 feet provides coverage for required areas of the lower roof.
