Hazards & Requirements

  • The Stacker is a freestanding self-driven unit that automatically reacts to incoming sheets, opening and closing the side jogger blades to accept sheets of material.
  • Stacker Workers perform daily operations and routine maintenance tasks without being properly tied off.
  • GP required unencumbered overhead fall protection for work that requires navigating uneven surfaces that in some cases would lead to 10’ fall.

Solutions

FLS designed, engineered, fabricated, installed, tested, and certified one (1) 60’ Twin Track FlexRail System. System provided overhead fall protection for up to four (4) users and supplied it with (4) sets of User Equipment including one (1) 50’ Self Retractable Lifeline, one (1) Overhead Trolley, and one (1) Tagline.

Summary

FLS has been working with Georgia-Pacific for over 10 years and has completed over 45 projects at 12 locations. Solutions have ranged from Vertical and Horizontal Lifeline systems, to Industrial, Railcar, Rooftop, Aircraft Rigid Rail solutions and currently keeps GP compliant with Annual Inspections.

The overhead solution at Georgia-Pacific's stacker took two FLS technicians less than one day to install, test and certify. It helps ensure worker safety, achieve compliance, and is expected to improve productivity. Workers now have more confidence to move quickly and more efficiently over uneven surfaces at height.
