ENGINEERED FOR EXCELLENCE: STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY IN COMPLEX FALL PROTECTION SYSTEM DESIGN
Michael Bailey, P.E., serves as the Director of Engineering and lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Flexible Lifeline Systems (FLS). With over 30 years of specialization in civil and structural engineering, Michael acts as the technical anchor for the firm’s life safety solutions, ensuring that every fall protection system is engineered for maximum structural integrity, constructability, economic, and user-friendly service.
As an active member of the ANSI Z359 Fall Protection Standards Committee and a member of the ASCE, Michael helps shape the regulatory standards governing the fall protection industry. His expertise bridges the gap between safety theory and functional reality, overseeing the complex calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) required to validate system performance in “worst-case” dynamic load scenarios.
Michael’s oversight focuses on the critical physics of fall arrest and the interface between hardware and host structures. He specializes in how dynamic forces interact with varied substrates—including industrial steel and reinforced concrete—to ensure anchorage points maintain all required safety factors as mandated by OSHA and ANSI requirements. From initial structural feasibility to final Professional Engineering (P.E.) certification, Michael ensures the full project lifecycle meets the highest engineering rigors.
Michael is instrumental in the research and development of new fall protection products and technologies. He works continuously to re-evaluate our existing products and systems to ensure compliance with ever-evolving codes and standards.
