Leah Bestwick provides the overall technical leadership and strategic oversight for the construction, design, and fabrication departments at Flexible Lifeline Systems (FLS). As Operations Manager, she is responsible for the entire project fulfillment lifecycle, bridging the gap between high-level engineering intent and field-verified safety assets. Leah manages a diverse multidisciplinary team, Project Management, Logistics, Fabrication, and Recertification ensuring that FLS delivers on its promise of technical accuracy and worker safety.
With over a decade of specialization in structural engineering and fall protection, Leah serves as a critical technical authority within the organization. Her expertise extends beyond internal operations to the shaping of industry standards; she has contributed to the CSA Z259 Technical Committee, assisting in the review of calculations and written technical standards that govern the industry. She is a licensed Canadian Engineer (P.Eng.) with a profound understanding of ANSI, CSA, and OSHA regulations across North America.
Leah’s methodology is centered on “Success through Systematization.” She oversees the integration of field data with internal compliance tracking to ensure every project meets the highest engineering rigors. Her role involves:
- Project Execution: Planning and overseeing all phases of active projects, from initial design development and structural feasibility to final installation.
- Process Development: Implementing ISO 9001 quality management standards and safety protocols to mitigate client liability and ensure structural integrity.
- Resource Leveling: Managing the achievement of strategic objectives through data-driven KPI tracking, cost control, and performance measurement.
Leah ensures that FLS remains the premier provider of fall protection by synchronizing complex procurement and fabrication schedules with the needs of clients in the Industrial, Aviation, and Commercial markets. Her leadership ensures that every system under her care, from davit structures for confined space entry to rigid horizontal rail systems, maintains an unbroken, documented chain of safety and compliance.
