The Plant Manager will oversee all manufacturing activities at the Flexible Lifeline Systems facility in Houston, TX. The candidate will be expected to develop short and long-term strategies, and bring strong leadership and management abilities to drive results in the areas of safety, operational excellence, and developing a robust continuous improvement culture. The Plant Manager will deliver superior products and quality service in a fast paced environment that meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies for improvement of quality and production, including department-level goals for fabrication quality and efficiency to align with Company goals.
  • Develop and maintain a production/fabrication schedule & plan. Meet production goals and schedule while producing a quality product.
  • Develop and implement shop workflow processes for optimizing productivity.
  • Reduce the rework required in the fab shop and maintain company’s Quality Objective.
  • Manage & direct supply chain & fabrication team in daily manufacturing activities, gathering and analyzing quality and production data to identify key issues and successes, to drive toward Company objectives.
  • Responsible for facility safety . Manage Production and Manufacturing Safety meetings and Safety training
  • Maintain proper records for meetings, training, shop routers, safety, MTR’s, and other items as required. Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enable increased productivity, reduced cost, improved safety, and help achieve zero shop-caused quality defects
  • Communicate to Management the needs of the Plant to meet the requirements and goals set forth. Implement actions to reach goals.
  • Become familiar with the installation schedule to understand when projects are going to happen, attend backlog meeting
  • Responsible for optimizing shop layout & cleanliness and enact a Shop Housekeeping plan.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Construction, or related field. Equivalent experience considered at the discretion of management.
  • Experience: 10+ years’ experience in industry, 5+ years’ experience as manager.
  • Highly proficient in reading engineering drawings, shop drawings, technical literature, and other construction documents. Ability to read and interpret design and shop detail drawings and customer specifications.
  • Experience in steel fabrication
  • Excellent presentation skills along with the ability to collaborate with peers, partners and leaders.
  • Excellent communication skills to converse with employees, upper management, dealers and vendors in person and via phone and email
  • Ability to read, to write, and to speak English language fluently. Bilingual Spanish a plus.
  • Experience supporting sales efforts and presenting both strategic and technical solutions.
  • Experience using project scheduling software and excellent computer skills. Experienced in use of ERP systems, Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent problem resolution skills
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced distribution environment.
  • Self-directed, highly motivated individual with proven ability to drive performance improvements in operations, through continuous improvement methods, employee engagement, and accountability.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. And prolong lifting and standing
  • Previous U.S. military service is a plus

Fall Protection is the fastest growing segment in the personal protective equipment market. Recent updates and changes to OSHA regulations ensure continued market growth for many years to come. The ideal candidate will have solution based sales experience in fall protection; including design, engineering, fabrication and installation.

As a regional territory manager you will call directly on and visit customer sites in a wide array of unique industries very few get to experience. Some of these include:

Duties

  • Call on and sell to fortune 1000 companies in the industrial, aviation and commercial markets as well as related government and military clients.
  • Develop strong business relationships within all levels of organizations, including senior level management.
  • Develop and execute individual business development plan.
  • Promptly action on inbound leads.
  • Efficiently qualify new leads.
  • Aggressively pursue all assigned opportunities.
  • Project manage supply and assembly orders.
  • Perform ANSI compliant fall hazard surveys
  • Regularly travel in designated territory performing site visits and customer consultations to determine solutions and obtain detailed information for estimates and proposals.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and technical proposals.
  • Maintain CRM database of assigned leads and opportunities.
  • Follow FLS sales process.
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales goals.
  • Attend networking and tradeshow events
  • Travel: 25%-40% overnight
  • Be willing to relocate out of state for regional growth opportunities.

Desired Skills and Experience
Basic Qualifications –

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years sales experience or, in lieu of education, 6+ years of related sales experience preferably in the safety or industrial fields.
  • Proven track record of sales success.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, CRM systems, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Analytical and detail oriented problem solving skills.
  • Read construction drawings, take measurements and prepare to scale hand or auto cad sketches for estimating.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of fall protection solutions, regulations and construction processes.
  • Professional Sales Training

Physical Demands

  • Employee must be able to lift, climb (including above average heights), move, pull and transport at least 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs maximum infrequently.
  • At customer sites the employee may be required to wear personal protective equipment including steel toe boots, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection and/or respirators.
