The Plant Manager will oversee all manufacturing activities at the Flexible Lifeline Systems facility in Houston, TX. The candidate will be expected to develop short and long-term strategies, and bring strong leadership and management abilities to drive results in the areas of safety, operational excellence, and developing a robust continuous improvement culture. The Plant Manager will deliver superior products and quality service in a fast paced environment that meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies for improvement of quality and production, including department-level goals for fabrication quality and efficiency to align with Company goals.
  • Develop and maintain a production/fabrication schedule & plan. Meet production goals and schedule while producing a quality product.
  • Develop and implement shop workflow processes for optimizing productivity.
  • Reduce the rework required in the fab shop and maintain company’s Quality Objective.
  • Manage & direct supply chain & fabrication team in daily manufacturing activities, gathering and analyzing quality and production data to identify key issues and successes, to drive toward Company objectives.
  • Responsible for facility safety . Manage Production and Manufacturing Safety meetings and Safety training
  • Maintain proper records for meetings, training, shop routers, safety, MTR’s, and other items as required. Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enable increased productivity, reduced cost, improved safety, and help achieve zero shop-caused quality defects
  • Communicate to Management the needs of the Plant to meet the requirements and goals set forth. Implement actions to reach goals.
  • Become familiar with the installation schedule to understand when projects are going to happen, attend backlog meeting
  • Responsible for optimizing shop layout & cleanliness and enact a Shop Housekeeping plan.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Construction, or related field. Equivalent experience considered at the discretion of management.
  • Experience: 10+ years’ experience in industry, 5+ years’ experience as manager.
  • Highly proficient in reading engineering drawings, shop drawings, technical literature, and other construction documents. Ability to read and interpret design and shop detail drawings and customer specifications.
  • Experience in steel fabrication
  • Excellent presentation skills along with the ability to collaborate with peers, partners and leaders.
  • Excellent communication skills to converse with employees, upper management, dealers and vendors in person and via phone and email
  • Ability to read, to write, and to speak English language fluently. Bilingual Spanish a plus.
  • Experience supporting sales efforts and presenting both strategic and technical solutions.
  • Experience using project scheduling software and excellent computer skills. Experienced in use of ERP systems, Microsoft Office products.

Job Title: Material Processor

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Familiarize and understand all FlexDecks employment policies such as work hours / days, drug screening, safety guidelines, and all policies outlining employee behavior on shop floor.
  • Familiarize, understand, and use all standard operating procedures determined by manufacturer and FlexDecks in relation to material processing equipment.
  • Ensure that product standards, both quality and quantity are met.
  • Interpret dimensions, material types, and material grades on cut lists or drawings.
  • Apply all safety measures when working in the shop and with machines/ hand tools.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and further development and maintenance of a cohesive team-oriented work environment with all employees, vendors, and customers and support the company in all decisions.
  • Other tasks as requested by the Director of Operations / Program Manager / Project Manager.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
  • Two plus (2+) years in relevant area- mechanical, technical, and/or machining experience. Specifically, processing materials (metals / woods / ceramics / plastics) by mechanical / machine means.
  • English communication (written & verbal) skills.
  • Ability to receive / read, and understand specific instructions, and action specific instructions to completion.
  • Ability to understand basic prints and the design intent conveyed through those prints.
  • Ability to read and operate a tape measure, square, and angle finder.
  • Ability to figure angle/pitch from rise & run; basic understanding of angles.
  • Knowledge of common power / hand tools and their safe operation.
  • Knowledge of common industrial processing tools / types:
  • Band saw
  • Table saw
  • Up-cut saw
  • Miter saw
  • Ironworker – notching and punching
  • Additional knowledge of industrial processing tools / types desirable but not required: torch (plasma), shear, press brake, and rolling / tube bending equipment;
  • Knowledge and experience processing different material types and grades, i.e., carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum (6061 / 5052, etc,.).
  • Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time within a noisy machine and fabrication shop environment.
  • Walking is required within the office and shop areas.
  • This position requires turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, waist, legs, wrists, fingers, as well as functional hearing, vision, and voice (English).
  • This position also requires ability to safely lift (bend ones knees) up to 50 lbs. The Project Manager position is an engineering and construction position, requiring aptitude in construction, building, and structural/civil engineering principles. Ideal candidate comes from a background in the design and/or construction of steel and concrete structures. Environment is a mix of fab shop, field, and office. Position is NOT related to IT.

Career track:

First 3-6 months: PM will start in the fabrication shop assisting in fabrication and in the field inspecting and installing our systems. You will be expected to work hard, in extreme temperatures and conditions at times.
After the shop/field – PM will manage appropriate projects from start to finish, and demonstrate the ability to execute successfully – duration approx. 2 years.

Future roll/positions: Technical sales of engineered fall protection solutions OR continued operations execution of projects OR a mix of both.

GENERAL: The Project Manager is responsible for the commercial, financial, and technical success and execution and delivery of projects designed to meet specific customer needs and goals. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. This role requires an ability to meet objectives, schedules, profitability and customer satisfaction in an engineering and commercial manufacturing/fabrication environment. Typically leads multiple project efforts. Manages the detailed technical schedule and financial performance of the project in order to deliver a quality product, on time and at the lowest achievable cost. Must collaborate with customers, management, and associates for the best solutions. This position will require ongoing updates to management and customers on program status, milestones, and objectives.

Must Have:

  • 2+ years of experience managing large projects or groups of projects, preferably within the building, construction, or manufacturing industry
  • Education: Engineering, Construction, or related technical Bachelor Degree.
  • Highly proficient in reading construction/shop drawings, technical literature, and other construction documents.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills along with the ability to collaborate with peers, partners and leaders.
  • Experience supporting sales efforts and presenting both strategic and technical solutions.
  • Experience using project scheduling software and excellent computer skills.
  • Must be able to work at heights with the use of fall-protection/fall-arrest equipment. If you have any fear of heights, this work is not for you.
  • Travel 50%
  • Must be able to operate machinery such as aerial lifts, forklifts, skid-steer loaders, tools.
  • Must be able to drive company vehicles both owned and rented.
  • Must be able to gain access to secure facilities which require strict background checks and drug screens.

Preferred Criteria:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in managing projects in a project construction/engineering environment.
  • Experience in structural steel and concrete construction
  • PMI PMP or CAPM Certification & ability to implement Project Management Institute (PMI) based standards

SALARY RANGE: $60k – $90k / YEAR

We are seeking an Installation Technician to assist our Lead Installers in the installation of fall protection systems. Main duty is to assist with the installation, inspection, and repair of structural steel frames to form completed structures or structure frameworks to support fall protection systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in the installation of new or modified equipment at customer’s facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications.
  • Must work in a safe manner, with zero incidents as the goal.
  • Sets up hoisting/rigging equipment for raising and placing structural steel. Fastens to cable of hoist with chain, cable, or rope.
  • Signals workers operating hoisting equipment to lift and place worker when required.
  • Implements controls to abate or minimize safety hazards.
  • Must be able to operate various types of Aerial Lifts
  • Must be able to operate Forklifts (boom and mast), Skid Steer Loaders, and other equipment
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in austere and often inclement conditions.
  • Must be able to work at heights attained by climbing and use of equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to travel up to 90%.
  • Must have a clear background (no felonies) as background checks are performed for entrance to some jobsites.
  • Must be able to drive and operate personal and/or company vehicles, owned or rented.
  • Must be able to read and interpret FLS plans and instructions at an entry level or above.
  • Must be able to read, understand and assist in completion the forms required for work.
